The chatbot works on the basis of a large language model Grok-1. xAI specialists started working on it four months ago. The company's blog noted that the first version of the chatbot used a prototype model with 33 billion parameters. Over the past two months, the developers have additionally trained Grok1 on code writing and logical reasoning tasks. As a result, the chatbot scored 73% in the standard MLU test and 63% in HumanEval, overtaking GPT-3.5, Lama 2 and Inflation-1. At the same time, Grok1 still loses Palm 2, Claude 2 and GMT-4. xAI engineers believe that competitors manage to break into the lead due to the large amount of training data, but over time the gap will be reduced.
